Commemoration of the Holy Hieromartyr, Bishop of Athens

Commemoration of the Holy Hieromartyr Hierotheus, Bishop of Athens.
According to the Greek Menaia, Hierotheus, one of the nine counsellors of the Areopage, was converted by St. Paul and consecrated Bishop of Athens. He was present at the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God, at the time when all the Apostles had come together.

Scripture Memory

“Three times I begged the Lord about this, that it might leave me, but he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.’ I will rather boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me” (2 Cor 12:8-9).

“Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful” (Luke 6:36).
