14th Sunday After Pentecost
The King’s Marriage Feast

Commemoration of our Fathers among the Saints Alexander, John and Paul the Latter, Archbishops of Constantinople.
Alexander, born probably in 238, succeeded Methodius on the arch-episcopal throne in the year 314. He took part in the First Ecumenical Council. He died in 337.
John, a Cappadocian, was elected on Tuesday after Easter in the year 518. He governed the Church in the days of the wicked Emperor Anastasius. He died in February 568.
Paul the Latter (IV), a Cypriot, rose to the See of Constantinople on the Second Sunday of Lent of the year 780. Soon after his election, he retired to a monastery where he died in 784.

Scripture Memory

“For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you with many tears, not that you might be pained but that you might know the abundant love I have for you” (2 Cor 2:4).

“He said to him, ‘My friend, how is it that you came in here without a wedding garment?’ But he was reduced to silence. Then the king said to his attendants, ‘Bind his hands and feet, and cast him into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.’” (Mt 22:12-13).
